Introducing… Best Case Wins

We’ve seen it all in our local clubs and our national events – great work, exceptional failures, innovative treatment plans. In the spirit of sharing our work and learning from each other, Seattle Study Club, in conjunction with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, is launching a global search to find the best of the best… and the Best Case Wins!

Hosted by Dr Amanda Seay, the Clinical Director of Seattle Study Club and the President-elect of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, this exciting competition is your chance to showcase your exceptional dental work and engage with peers in the spirit of friendly competition. 

How it works

  1. Submit your case below using the form by August 31, 2024

  2. SSC Clinical Directors & AACD Examiner will review cases based on the four case types described below.

  3. Head-to-head challenges will then be posted (anonymously) on social media for peer-to-peer voting.

  4. Finalists in each category will be identified by November 1st, 2024.

  5. A final live vote will be cast at Symposium 2025 in Key Biscayne, FL*

  6. Each category winner will receive a prize package valued at over $12,500!

    The package includes $5,000 courtesy of Seattle Study Club, free registration to Symposium 2026, complimentary AACD membership for a year and a bundled guidebook package including the AACD Criteria Guide, Photo Guide and Esthetics Elevated. In additions, winners will have the opportunity to present their case on the main stage and ultimate bragging rights.**

    Entry conditions: Participants must detail initial presentation, treatment options and agreed treatment plan with a discussion as to how this plan was chosen. Describe the treatment journey – include any challenges and how you overcame them. Present the final result and reflect on the case in 500 words or less, and provide up to four images including before and afters. Participants must give consent for publication.

    *Finalists to receive discounted attendance at Symposium 2025
    **If cases are submitted by multiple clinicians, the prize packages will be split accordingly

  • This category is for dentists and orthodontists

  • Treatment plan can include the use of clear aligners or traditional brackets & wires.

  • Minor adjunctive restorative treatment (i.e. whitening, re-contouring and composite edge bonding) may have also been carried out as part of the overall treatment plan.

  • This category is for dentists, oral surgeons or periodontists

  • Single or multiple implant cases accepted

  • Limited to sites of teeth #6-11

  • Patient must have natural tooth/teeth adjacent to the implants. Final restoration may not have pink porcelain added.

  • Patient must have high or medium smiles lines (natural gingival tissue must show in the smile frame).

Crown lengthening and restorative

  • ⁠This category is for dentists and periodontists

  • Case must involve the removal or gum tissue, bone or both to expose more of a tooth’s structure.

  • Case must highlight cosmetic enhancements to the patients smile

  • Must include crown lengthening around two or more teeth in the anterior sextant. Patient must have high or medium smile lines (natural gingival tissue must show in the smile frame).

Restorative – Full mouth rehabilitation

  • ⁠This category is for dentists working in conjunction with a lab technician.

  • At least 20 teeth restored with direct restorations, full or partial coverage

  • The majority of the treatment plan includes implants, crowns, veneers or bridges (or any combination) to the treat the majority of the teeth in the maxilla and mandible

  • Other treatment may have been carried out, but the major change will result from the prosthetics.
